JESI Customer Experience Specialist

Joanne WalterJoanne Walter

Jojo Walter, welcome to the JESI team.
Thank you, it’s great to be here.

Can you tell us what your new role is and what your responsibilities at JESI will be.
Sure, my title is Customer Experience Specialist. I will be the bridge between the customer facing team and the software team.  I have an expansive background in both web design and web development so I will be able to put those skills to use on the marketing website. I’m skilled in user experience (UX) design, user interface (UI) design, graphic design, rapid prototyping, design thinking, qualitative and quantitative research.  I have been told that my brain is like a crystal ball, being able to see all the different ways something could play out, this serves me well at work (not so great in my personal life….).

And what had you been doing prior to joining JESI?
Well, I have 11 years’ experience designing and building websites.  Most recently I was working at SafetyCulture as a Product Designer, working in multiple cross-functional teams that focused on scheduling, reshaping their freemium offering, team management and growth. SafetyCulture also started in Townsville, so I’m excited to be part of another venture that had its origins here in Townsville.

Yes, many of us know that SafetyCulture has been a hugely successful Townsville Startup, why did you decide JESI was the right move for you?
I’m passionate about working with companies that have and make a good social impact on the world.  JESI is one of those companies, as it’s core purpose is to ensure the safety of travelling workers. I enjoy wearing multiple hats at work, and at JESI I get to do that again, as I will be working on a range of different projects, from marketing, to product design to helping establish internal processes.

There is no doubt JESI is experiencing some significant growth and has some amazing opportunities coming up, what are you looking forward to the most about working at JESI?
Helping JESI tap into the SME market as well as helping the team build a product that customers love.  I’m also very excited to be joining the JESI team at this stage in their growth and being a part of the incredible journey they have embarked on.

JESI is very happy to have you join the team Jojo, but before you go, we have a few questions, just for fun, so that we can get a sense of your personality and get to know you a little better.

What sentence would you use to describe yourself?
I am a creative person who enjoys problem solving and finding ways to improve the lives of others.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live and why?
I would love to live in the UK.  I did a holiday there a few years back and fell in love with the place.  I was fascinated with all the history, castles and churches. If I could, I  would spend every free weekend exploring a different small town. I know people say the weather is terrible and cold, but the idea of experiencing different seasons really appeals to me, given I live in the tropics where the seasons are all so similar, (Hot, Hotter and Boiling).

And finally, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Growing up, I was an ice skater.  I had dreams of joining Disney On Ice as either a performer or a choreographer.
